About Brunswick County
The county was formed in 1764 from parts of Bladen County and New Hanover County. It was named for the colonial port of Brunswick Town (now a state historic site) which was itself named for Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg; at the time held by the British kings of the House of Hanover.
Brunswick County is located in southeastern North Carolina’s Cape Fear region. It is bordered by New Hanover County and the historic Cape Fear River to the east, Pender and Columbus Countys’ to the north, South Carolina to the West and the beautiful aqua green waters of the Atlantic Ocean to the south. With a current population of approximately 103,000, Brunswick County was most recently listed as the 28th fastest growing county in the US.
Economicly diverse, the county offers much to relocating businesses or new residents. Modern industrial sites have been strategically spaced throughout the county. An abundance of tourist attractions exist in the county, as well as in nearby Wilmington and Myrtle Beach. Agriculture and Fishing are the traditional economic base of Brunswick County, and still serve as large employers. Some of the largest farms in North Carolina reside here in Brunswick County.

From ocean Front retreats, Golf resorts, affordable communities or a home in the woods, Brunswick county can accommodate nearly everyone’s desire.
