“Birds of a Feather” art exhibition to open June 10 in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. — “Birds of a Feather,” a special exhibition featuring artist Clark Hipolito’s original artwork on handcrafted guitars, ukuleles and surfboards, will open on Friday, June 10, at Deluxe restaurant in downtown Wilmington, NC.

The title of the exhibition, “Birds Of A Feather,” reflects the collaboration between Raleigh, NC-based artist Hipolito, surfboard shaper Will Allison of Wilmington, and luthier Jay Lichty of Tryon – the three North Carolina artists/craftsmen who are creating the surfboards and heirloom quality guitars and ukuleles for the show.

Brunswick Arts Council hasting grant-writing workshop on May 19

SUPPLY, N.C. — The Brunswick Arts Council is hosting a grant -writing workshop on Thursday, May 19 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the Brunswick Electric Membership building, located at 795 Ocean Highway West, Supply, NC.

The workshop will focus on the grant-writing process for the North Carolina Arts Council Grassroots Arts Program.  Jon Tait, President of the Brunswick Arts Council’s Grants & Development Division, and Leigh Ann Wilder, Regional Coordinator for the North Carolina Arts Council, will educate attendees on (1) grant eligibility, (2) submission deadlines, (3) what the funds may be used for, (4) priorities for funding, (5) funding policies and (6) reporting requirements.

Brunswick County Chamber to unveil artwork for 30th Annual N.C. Oyster Festival on Tuesday

OCEAN ISLE BEACH, N.C. — The Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce will unveil the artwork for the 30th Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival at the Museum of Coastal Carolina in Ocean Isle Beach on Tuesday, Aug. 10 at 6 p.m.  (UPDATE 8/10/10:  this event has been rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 18 at the Museum of Coastal Carolina in Ocean Isle Beach).

Oyster Festival Artwork to be Unveiled May 28

OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC – The Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce will unveil the artwork for the 29th Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival at its upcoming Business After Hours on Thursday, May 28.  The business after hours begins at 5:30 p.m. at The Isles Restaurant.  Keith White of The Brunswick Beacon won the art contest with his design featuring an Oyster theme.

The Business After Hours is a networking event for members of the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce.
