CFBN Poll Results on the 1099 mandate in the new healthcare law
Cape Fear Business News recently asked readers their opinion of the 1099 mandate in the new healthcare reform law.
The issue: The healthcare reform law mandates that all companies issue 1099 tax forms not just to contract workers but to any individual or corporation from which they buy more than $600 in a year.
The results:
- 67% – This provision has nothing to do with healthcare and will further harm our struggling economy by creating an added, unnecessary burden on business owners

For the past several weeks Cape Fear Business News has been running an online poll related to the Gulf oil spill.
The question: “If forced to choose, who do you think would do a better job of stopping the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico and cleaning up the oil spill?”

- 66%: This is what happens when bureaucrats get so hung up on policies that they forget about people. Sounds like the town needs a change in leadership.
